German Style Brewery’s opening in Grand Rapids
We already know that Grand Rapids is Beer City USA – but if a recent trend continues we might soon be known as Bier City USA. An influx of German-style brewery openings in Grand Rapids has expanded our borders and given us a serious hankering for some ice cold Kolsch!
Check out some of these brewery’s in the Grand Rapids area:
- Kitzingen Brewery– The Kitzingen Brewery is Wyoming’s first brewery. The craft microbrewery’s namesake is inspired by Kitzingen, Germany where the owner was stationed while serving in the U.S. Army. They’ll serve up German beers and offer a military decor. They’ll have between 9 and 15 brews on tap including an IPA, a stout and a seasonal brews. They opened in December
- Cedar Springs Brewery– Cedar Springs Brewery is the first in this city as well. The food, drinks and general aesthetic has a German feel. There are even murals on the wall from the old Schnitzelbank in Grand Rapids. Opened in November, we know good things are coming from this new spot.
- Harmony Hall– Yeah, it’s not quite as new (opened late summer)– but so worth checking out if you haven’t. The beer: they have an impressive 30-tap selection that will include some barrel-aged and cask ales along with lagers, IPAs and belgian fruit ales. It’s a German-style hall on the West Side and the Westsiders are more than excited to welcome this new establishment.
