Free Things to do in Grand Rapids
Who doesn’t love saving some money? Here’s a list on some of the activities you can enjoy around Grand Rapids without breaking the bank!
- Did you know you have visit the Grand Rapids Art Museum on Tuesdays from 10am-5pm or Thursdays nights from 5-9 FOR FREE? So come check out the galleries and beautiful works of art!
- Have you ever wondered were that tire-swing in Calder Plaza went? After a 2-year absence, it is back! The tire swing is part of the sculpture titled “Motu Viget” created by Mark di Suvero. The swing measure 7 feet across, so there’s plenty of room for multiple people to enjoy it.
- This one is a personal favorite. Starting June 3rd, free movies in the park is a family-friendly event happening every other Friday in Ah-Nab-Awen Park. It’s a perfect excuse to get out the picnic blanket, some picnic food and a nice bottle of wine.
- What better way to take advantage of a beautiful than a stroll through our very own Heritage Hill? Check out this self-guided walking tour and admire some gorgeous early-twentieth-century architecture. With almost 40 homes on the tour, you’ll get some great views and an awesome workout!
- If you’re liking the walking tour idea, there’s also a Downtown Self-Guided Walking Tour you can take a look at! This is a 10-block walking tour taking you by all the museums, the historic blue bridge and past some cute coffee shops.
- Our Grand Rapids International Airport has a nice viewing open daily 7AM-10PM. Pack a picnic (picnic tables ARE available) and enjoy watching planes take off! Also, don’t forget you can turn on 1650 AM and listen to the air traffic controllers.
