They may or may not be the best hot dogs you’ve ever had but Yesterdog is definitely a local favorite ever since the ‘70’s. The place is so iconic, it was even used as reference in the movie “American Pie” and as the restaurant in “Dog Years”. Yesterdog is one of those places you have to go at least one, or maybe a couple dozen times.
The Irony That There Are No Rapids In Grand Rapids
Okay, the river got it’s name because the river used to flow wildly from sixth street to wealthy back in the 1800’s. Through time, dams were put in place and boulders were removed. The appearance changed, construction took place and companies harnessed energy from the river.
There’s actually a plan, Grand Rapids WhiteWater, which aims to restore the natural rapids. Their intent is to make the river a place that can be used by all.

With the art festival and several other events, Grand Rapids is a Great city for artists. The city also has a brilliant symphony, ballet company and numerous theaters.

Heritage Hill is one of the largest urban historic districts in Grand Rapids and is one of the first neighborhoods. This neighborhood is full of old, historical homes that boast many different architectural styles. Citizens rallied together in the ‘60s and ‘70s to prevent the tearing down of the gorgeous neighborhood. From then on, Heritage Hill has held a sense of pride in Grand Rapids.
